The trouble with Bendy...

Dating from 1975, Orinoco and Great Uncle Bulgaria here are 'Bendy' toys.  A Bendy toy was basically a soft squidgy covering over a wire frame (with newer ones it was a type of plastic I think).  The point of this was you could bend them into different positions and they would stay there until you bent them back.  They were still popular in the 1980s' because I got Postman Pat for Christmas one year.  The problem with these things is their fragility.  If I tried to bend these now they would basically just snap and fall apart.  I don't know if it depends on how and where they are kept, but they tend to get a bit hard and crusty and weird (like how a cheap sponge gets hard after a while). Take a look at Uncle Bulgarias nose and you'll see what I mean.
